The Louvre: The Artistic Portrayal of Dogs
The images above depict the results of my experiment at the Louvre, to find a wide variety of artistic depictions of dogs. Dogs are depicted in both painting and sculpture, though the majority of sculpted dogs are associated with the Greek goddess Artemis (goddess of the hunt). Dogs have been the faithful companion to mankind for thousands of years, it seems only appropriate that they would occupy so much of one of the greatest museums in the world. These are only a sampling of the many paintings of dogs at the Louvre; though most of the remaining dogs are depicted solely in the background.
I will post more of my pictures of my favorites from the Louvre soon.
